How Eastern And Western Cultures Tackle Learning
This NPR story interviews many researchers and specialists in the field of education and revolves around the content and structure of typical classrooms around the world – which vary tremendously. Attitudes that surround the success and failure of students within these spaces, from an early age shape their view of school and learning in general. The tactics employed by teachers effects these views and the overall success of each student. One anecdote from a Japanese school I found quite fascinating. I would suggest listening and think of how these ideas could potentially effect the critiques we have in class.
